A short trip to Maasai Mara
Phewwww !! Finally after a wait that seems to have lasted forever, you can now travel back to Kenya, we immediately went on a discovery tour to the Maasai Mara. To take a closer look at a new camp. As if the wildebeest knew that the airport would not open until August 1st, the great migration has only just begun, the huge migrating herds will be on until October / November.
To get to know another part of the park better, this time we went to Musiara Marsh, known from numerous animal documentaries about the river crossing during the wildebeest hike and the big lions prides. The marsh is always green and marshy, so there are lots of elephants all year round, this time of the year is more special as most of the females have recently had calves.
The Sentinel Camp is located in a small forest right on the Mara River, It has only 10 tents making it intimate and very special for nature lovers. It is an eco-camp without permanent structures in order to have as little impact on nature as possible. Electricity comes 100% solar powered and the shower is quintessential bucket style safari shower. But don't worry, you don't have to do without comfort as there are 3 lounges that allow a lot of privacy while enjoying 180 degrees of river view with scores of hippos throughout the day.
Beautiful colonial accessories take you back in time to Karen Blixen and Denis Finch Hatton. The wine selection at the camp is unique and the cook was trained by Jamie Oliver. Great salad creations and snacks are even served at the picnic during your full day game drive. There is no sandwich and egg here !!
From arrival to departure you have the same guide, who pays attention to many details, always a drink at sunset or the hot shower is organized in advance from the vehicle with the correct arrival time in the camp. The knowledge of the guides is excellent and around the campfire you can hear about the life of the local Maasai..
The stay is a bit pricy, but you are connected with nature and all the comfort you could wish for with the best food in the bush and a top wine selection. Ask us about offers and visit the Sentinel Camp yourself.
